Okay, I have to admit, the moment I read the blurb for this book, I knew I wanted to read it. This was not your average love triangle! The story followed Lexie who, after her boyfriend of over three years cheats on her felt that she needs a fresh start and accepted a one year scholarship to study abroad in Italy.
But first, she spent the summer back home and two days before she left something happened She and Trent had been very close ever since their parents married each other. Over the last several years, they had bonded over a shared understanding of what it was like to survive a broken family and had always supported each other. And then Or at least, I was definitely rooting for them.
But still I just had totally mind-blowing sex with my stepbrother. Which is a good thing because I just had totally mind blowing sex with my stepbrother. After a somewhere lengthy and pretty hilarious confession, she turned to leave and ran smack into Reverend Moretti I knew as soon as I met him who my choice would be.
Nu huh. But the more they got to know each other, the more their feelings grew. Lexie was a fun heroine. She messed up, took leaps and I really enjoyed reading the story from her perspective.
There were a few times when I wanted to shake her but generally, I really liked her. While I did enjoy the book, I found the first half to be a little bit slow. But by the half way mark, it had really started to build and I pretty much just sat there madly flipping pages until the end. Things were all going down the wrong path! There were big "oh-noooo" moment, so many "almost" moments -- the phone calls and texts between Trent and Lexie killed me!
It was the one I wanted and I really appreciated that all the characters were very sensible about the way they handled the whole situation.
I also appreciated that things were resolved early enough in the book to give me a little time to bask in the happy glow before the end.
They always have. I read it in one sitting -- took me about 3 hours and I really just enjoyed it.
A Little Too Far Series
I put a lot of pressure on this book, perhaps a little too much But rest assured, because A Little Too Far delivered in a huge way. I think stories are best left to be read, not summarized in a review. And trust me, even a world-class summarization could do justice to the characters OMG Trent! It was a tender and thoughtful look at love and the choices it sometimes leads you to. Of finally finding your forever love and deciding if that leap of faith is worth the risk. The answer is always YES.
Lisa DesRochers – A Little Too Far
I wonder if she even waited an hour after we broke up to call him. Katie is next to her, glaring thorns at Stacey. I can always count on my friends to circle the wagons. I shrug. Things happen. We all thought you two would end up married.
