The J. In New Hampshire, there were no new reported cases in Coos County. On Thursday, New Hampshire governor Chris Sununu announced that schools will continue remote learning until the end of the year.
The N. It is my plan to post the SAU 7 plan by the end of this week. He also addressed end of year activities. In SAU 58, which administers schools in Stratford, Groveton and Stark, the school year will end on May 18 for all students who have met competencies or are passing in all classes.
Students not meeting those requirements will receive additional support until the fourth quarter or third trimester grades close in June. Vermont governor Phil Scott announced some measures to allow for a phased restart of the economy in his state. Effective Monday, "micro-crews" of no more than two people per location or job can perform outdoor work or construction work in unoccupied structures, and supporting operations may resume with the minimum number of employees possible to allow for curbside pickup and delivery.
Commercial retail operations can resume with the minimum number of employees needed for curbside pickup, delivery services, and warehouse or distribution operations.
All orders must be placed over the phone or on-line and no in-store transactions are allowed right now. Services with a single worker, such as appraisers, realtors, municipal clerks, attorneys, property managers and pet care operators, can resume operations as long as no more than two people provider and client are present at the same time. Sununu has done a great job with a lot of help from the Department of Human Services and the state Emergency Operations Center, but I am very disappointed that he had decided to allow campgrounds to open," said Colebrook emergency management director Dean Woodard-Neary.
Guardsmen will hand out two boxes per household on a first-come, first-served basis. Frances Sytek of Helping Hands North said everyone is encouraged to come, and that anyone going to the event must be in a vehicle.
It will go a long way toward putting food on shelves. Hook grew up across the river in Brunswick and attended SPS from kindergarten to the 10th grade. He was hired as its principal last May. We have a wonderful and caring staff, incredible students and families that support us in all that we do. Other schools should be so lucky as to have the people we do that we can call family.
Hook praised staff and students, saying that they "have all responded brilliantly to this unforeseen challenge" as school life has changed dramatically due to the COVID outbreak. We are very fortunate to have the team we do. Hook as done for us this year as our principal. We are grateful for the time and effort that he put into our school.
In acknowledging this, and in an effort to be fiscally responsible, the Stratford school board has decided to pursue transitioning to a teaching principal model. Hook was not interested in the teaching principal position so the board has begun a search to fill that role. We wish Mr. Hook well in his future endeavors. Hook said that with Stratford moving to the teaching principal model, "I am currently looking at opportunities to continue my career as a full-time administrator.
Colebrook varsity baseball coach Tim Purrington is the longest-active spring coach in the area and said although the right decision was made and everyone has to take precautions, it is still "very, very frustrating. Nobody planned on losing a year. In our case we had maybe six or seven freshmen and eighth-graders replacing our four seniors and getting experience.
You lose the development for a year and then next year they have to be ready to go. Hopefully if social distancing is not as prevalent then we might be able to get in one or two games this summer, but it is not going to make up for a lost season. The thing I will probably miss the most is bus rides with my teammates.
We would have had seniors at pitcher, catcher and shortstop with a junior in centerfield. All four of them plus a few others have been working on their softball skills during summers and in between other sports seasons for four years.
The program will miss all the seniors but ultimately they did their job-making their teammates better and improving the program. For some of us seniors, softball is our favorite sport so not being able to play our senior year is really heartbreaking, especially since we had so much taken from us already.
But life throws a lot of curve balls at you, and all we can do is recover from them and come back stronger on the next pitch, and we will definitely come back to cheer our team on next year. I am also going to miss the opportunity to become the best I can be before college tryouts. This last season before we all leave is critical to develop lacking skills needed for the next level of play, so I do feel that we are missing out on that.
We had a lot of high expectations for ourselves as a team this year, but I am hoping they will follow through on them next year.
