ETAG 020 PDF

These old codes are explained below for information and reference. This ETAG offers manufacturers a range of options which cover applications with varying degrees of complexity. Options 1 - 6 cover use in Cracked and non-cracked concrete and ascribes higher characteristic resistance to the non-cracked concrete condition while options 7 - 12 cover use in non-cracked concrete only. As most concrete is considered cracked only options 1 - 6 will cover the majority of applications and of these option 1 will provide the most flexibility for design and the best chance of satisfying awkward application parameters involving close edges and spacings of anchor in groups. The following parts are included. It is aimed primarily at suspended ceilings and other applications involving the suspension of services from concrete soffits and where redundancy is involved i.

As most concrete is considered cracked only options 1 - 6 will cover the majority of applications and of these option 1 will provide the most flexibility for design and the best chance of satisfying awkward application parameters involving close edges and spacings of anchor in groups. It may apply to other uses that fulfil the application criteria. It covers use in concrete which may be cracked or non-cracked but does not differentiate between the two regarding characteristic resistance. Strict application parameters are given for an application to qualify as "Multiple use" see link to anchor selector but as long as these are met then no calculation need be made for the stiffness of the supported structure.

The title of this ETAG says it all really. In the case of fixing to masonry if the masonry units of the job do not meet or exceed the strength and dimensions of those quoted in the ETA then job site tests must be carried out to the recommendations of Annex D of this ETAG OR to a simplified test regime described in BS Annex B.

This ETAG deals with plastic anchors in a variety of base materials as listed below and again deals with applications for "Multiple Use" but its definition of that term varies slightly compared to ETAG Part 6.

It covers applications where failure of a single anchor may result in collapse of the works so may be used for a wide range of safety critical applications. If resistance to fire has been taken into account in the test and assessment of the anchor it will be stated in the ETA.
