Read More CHENNAI: The AIADMK on Tuesday released its electoral manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections , promising direct monthly transfer of Rs 1, -- under a scheme that will be called the Amma national poverty eradication initiative -- to the targeted population of poor and the deprived people, destitute women, widows without income, differently abled people, landless agricultural labourers, rural and urban manual labourers, destitute senior citizens. Party coordinator and Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam released the manifesto at the party headquarters. The party will continue to press for the complete removal of Article of the Constitution which enables dismissal of elected state governments, not found in any other federal systems. It will urge the Centre to provide free higher education to all children across the country as a national policy. The party will impress upon the Centre to waive the educational loans obtained by the students from nationalised banks and other banks.

The UCC, which has been a controversial topic of debate among political parties, seeks to replace personal laws based on customs and scriptures of the major religious communities in the country with a common set of rules applicable for each citizen.
Besides the issue of UCC, the AIADMK also promised in its manifesto a national-level poverty eradication scheme that would provide a sum of Rs 1, a month for every family below poverty line BPL , statehood for the Union territory of Puducherry and linking of Godavari and Cauvery rivers under water management schemes.
It is presently under the Concurrent List. Speaking to reporters, Panneerselvam said that the party would reiterate its stand to exempt students from Tamil Nadu from the purview of NEET, which is required for medical admissions across the country.
The party has also vowed to urge the Centre to seek an international probe into the alleged crime wars during the civil war in Sri Lanka.
Much like its opposition DMK, the party also reiterated its stand to urge the Centre to release all seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
